Purnea Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Purnea, Bihar volunteered to be assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and conducted the preliminary self study. The Self Study Report was submitted to NAAC by the institution. A peer team was constituted by NAAC to visit the institution and validate the SSR. The peer team, consisting of Prof. R.S.Bawa, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as Chairman, Prof. Samson Moharana, Prof. & Head, PG Deptt. of Commerce, Utkal University, Vanivihar as Member Co-ordinator and Prof. Anadi Kumar Kundu, Principal, Barasat Government College, Barasat, Kolkata as Member visited the institution for two days 29-30th September, 2005.
Purnea Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Purnea, Bihar is a constituent unit of B.N.M.University, Madhepura, Bihar. Formerly, it was an affiliated college of L.N.Mithla University, Darbhanga. Covering a total area of 12 acres, it was established on September 19th, 1970 with the aim to improve access to higher education to the female section of under privileged people living in the remote and backward area of this north-eastern region of Bihar. The goal of the institution is to motivate and prepare the students to meet the challenges of modern life and be able to find jobs. The college having a built up area of 90000 sq. ft. (approx.) is situated in the urban area. It had a strength of 923 students at the degree level during the session 2004-05. The success rate during the last two batches was 77% and 78% and drop rate was 0.5%. The financial category of the college is Govt. funded. The college runs two self-financing courses in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics (CND) and Computer Application. The college has UGC recognition since 1983 under section 2f and has achieved recognition u/s 12 B since May 2004.
